Ahhh Mother's Day....a day for honoring a mother, or being honored as mother. I can be sentimental at times and Mother's Day is one of those days where I prefer to give and receive something from the heart. Store bought gifts are nice, but in my opinion, gifts can be bought year round, and so I tend to lean toward the type of gifts that just can't be bought. Now if you want to send me to Jamaica the day after Mother's Day, I'm all for it! lol! Here are a few Mother's Day gestures that just might make the mother in your life smile :)

     10 THINGS FOR MOM

Handmade card with a collage of childhood photos incorporated into the design.

Relive mom from her daily chores. No cooking or cleaning.

Run a bubble bath, set up the TV in the bathroom so mom can watch her favorite movie while bathing. If the movie thing doesn't work, music and candles are nice.

Offer periodic massages throughout the day. Foot and back rubs are always welcomed.

Wash her car, including the inside

Perform mom's chores for her. Organize her jewelry, purses or shoes.

Be mom's errand runner for the day. Help her check off things on her "to do" list.

If she's a working mom, bring her lunch to work or surprise her at work and take her to lunch.

If she's a social mom, plan a brunch for her and her friends.

Last but not least, give mom plenty of hugs, kisses and "I love you's".

Why not get young people, artists, seniors, scientists, and teens drawing together? Ryman Arts - an arts education organization that fosters artistic and personal development of gifted young artists - is partnering with Los Angeles museums and other organizations to launch the second annual The Big Draw LA.

Together, Los Angelenos will expand the boundaries of drawing, experimenting not only with pencils, paint, charcoal, and digital imagery, but also with sand, clay, choreographed movement—anything that makes a mark! Participation is open to all, and organizations of all sizes and kinds, from established institutions to small groups, are invited to sponsor, organize, or host an event during the month of October.

Drawing is a universal language, connecting generations, cultures, and communities. Children draw to make sense of the world before they learn to write. Yet most adults, given a pencil, claim: “I can’t draw!” The Big Draw aims to remove this barrier and create opportunities for people of all ages to discover that drawing can make us SEE, THINK, and INVENT.

The Big Draw L.A. will be the first event of its kind to take place on the West Coast and is inspired by the wildly popular Big Draw in London.

At Panera, customers who can’t pay for their meals are asked to volunteer at the restaurant.

Panera CEO and founder and Ron Shaich told USA Today that he’s “trying to find out what human nature is all about” by placing the honor system at the top of the menu. “There’s no pressure on anyone to leave anything. But if no one left anything, we wouldn’t be open long.”

Critics, however, question whether charity can be a restaurant’s bread and butter. “I don’t think the honor bar system will work nationally,” says trends consultant Marian Salzman. “While young people are very much attuned to helping out and making a difference, if they find themselves sitting next to other customers with whom they don’t feel comfortable, they’re not coming back.”

If you were one of the haves subsidizing the have-nots at a non-profit restaurant, would you contribute the full cost of your meal?

Angels do fly, just listen…

It was early morning and I looked up to the sky. I couldn’t see angels and I wondered why.

Attention to the weaker ones, broken, bruised, forgotten, and shunned.

What will your resolution be? “Do this, do that, make a better me?”

How about this, no new idea, a forgotten one, buried in tears:

TAKE THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED, BE WHAT YOU DREAM.

GET OUT OF THE BOAT, WALK ON THE SEA.

You’ll find when you do; you will help someone else, be who they are, look inside themselves. Your tears of regret will soon be dry and someone else will have wings to fly.

Dreams and visions are from above. When you walk in yours, you show love. Not only to God but others too and most importantly, you show love to you.

Your "pearls" are your dreams and goals and it is not always best to put them out there and share them with people who don't have your best interest at heart. Some people only want to hear your dreams so that they can steal them from you and make them their own. Others only want to use them against you if you dont accomplish them when they think you should. And then there are those who hear your dreams and tear them down and make you believe they are impossible to accomplish.

Your dreams and visions that are good come from God so let him fulfill them in you. On your journey of life allow God to help you decide who is best to hear these dreams and who will help elevate you and support you as you accomplish them. Find those who have dreams of their own and who are uplifting and positive!
